View (from property/room) in Europa Hotel
Because I arrived before my room was ready the staff provided a room where I could leave my luggage and begin my holiday immediately. The staff gave me information regarding services in the hotel, public transport in Malta, general prices, orientation etc. When I was checked-in into my room, the room was clean, it was exactly as described on the Booking site. The Wi-Fi was working perfectly. The Air Condition unit was working great although I didn't need it. There was also a TV and it worked although I didn't use it. The linen on the bed was clean and the staff adjusted it daily. The window looked at shaft (as described on the site). The bathroom had all the facilities as described and it was cleaned daily. You got towels (which were changed daily or not, but only if You decided that and told that to the staff. You had soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. The room was excellent since I used it only for sleep because I was out all day sightseeing, visiting museums, churches and locations on Malta. The staff was friendly. It adjusted or changed Your bed linen if asked. It kept the room clean. Also changed the towels daily. The location of the hotel exceeded my expectations. First, Sliema on its own is also a beautiful place. A waterfront in front of the hotel was fantastic even during the winter. Very near the hotel was the bus station from which You could travel to Valletta (20 minutes) or somewhere else if You wanted to. 10 minutes from the hotel is the ferry that can carry You directly to Valletta (10 minutes). All in all, since I only used a room to sleep overnight, I am very pleased with everything.

The hotel is located on the waterfront in Sliema: cross the street (make sure you look right, not left!) and you are on an amazing promenade overlooking the sea. There are buses (D3 on the same side of the street as the hotel and X2 across the street) that you can take to the airport. Bus 202 (the same side of the street as the hotel) will take you to Rabat and Mdina with its amazing cathedral of St Peter and Paul (also visit the cathedral museum whose hidden gem is a collection of Duerer's prints). Numerous buses (the other side of the street) run regularly and frequently to Valletta, Malta's beautiful and unique capital. Along the promenade, going all the way to St Julian's Bay to the west and the ferry terminal to the east, there are many bars, cafes and restaurants. To get to the ferry terminal, take a shortcut along Triq it-Torri. Also, the views of the sea and Valletta are breathtaking. The room is VERY comfy! There is everything you need for a perfect stay: lots of lights, heating, a very comfy bed, toiletries, a good hot shower, a TV showing major news and movie channels in English, a hairdryer, etc. The hotel staff are VERY helpful and friendly. The sheets and towels are changed regularly. If you wish, you can have a good breakfast downstairs. There is a Lidl supermarket nearby and a pub Salisbury Arms with a very warm and friendly ambiance.

The hotel is very well located right on the front overlooking the sea and is served by about a dozen bus routes (stop is Chalet) including to and from the airport as well as Valletta and points west. The staff were always helpful, the room clean and warm (it doesn't get cold in Malta even in January) and the breakfasts more than enough with a buffet system. Rooms are cleaned and towels and sheets changed every day. I stayed for almost 2 weeks and it was only busy on a weekend but that was probably due to the time of year. I paid less than 40 euros a night which was excellent value.

The hotel is an older five-storey property but has been renovated to modern standards. A sea view room with balcony is definitely worth the small extra cost and offers a stunning view of the Mediterranean and the ships coming in and out of the harbour. No restaurant on the premises, but Fortizza just across the road offers Maltese and international cuisine. For Chinese, go to Golden Wok a short distance down the road. The Queen Elizabeth II Pub (10 min. walking distance) offers traditional English food including the classic Sunday Roast (very popular, so be sure to book a table).

We booked a three-adult basic room. It was an interior room with no windows other than into a ventilation shaft - it felt like a bit of a dungeon. It wasn't dirty, but didn't feel perfectly clean. One of the shower doors was missing (apparently it had broken) so I went to reception to ask for an additional towel for the floor, and they instead offered to upgrade us to a beautiful water-facing room with a balcony. This upgraded room was fantastic.
